A Community Coming Together: Another Fix It Forward Story
One of the greatest privileges of launching Fix It Forward has been witnessing what can happen when an entire community decides to rally around a family in need.
Recently, we were contacted by Restore with Hannah Grace about a family in Ridgeway whose lives were turned upside down after a tree crashed through their home. The damage was extensive. Rain poured into the house for an extended period of time, causing significant water damage throughout the kitchen and dining room. The plaster ceilings became bowed and unstable, light fixtures were left hanging dangerously, and the home was no longer a safe environment for their young children.
What could have been an overwhelming situation quickly became a reminder that our community is filled with people who genuinely care.
The first step was making the home structurally sound. A local roofing contractor stepped in to reinforce the damaged framing, creating a safe foundation for the repairs ahead. From there, Magnolia Roofing generously donated their time and expertise to install a brand-new shingle roof, protecting the home from any further weather damage.
With the roof secure, We Love Construction got to work inside the home. Our team rebuilt the damaged ceilings and completed the necessary electrical repairs throughout the kitchen and dining room, transforming an unsafe space back into one where this family can begin to breathe a little easier.
While we've made incredible progress, the project isn't finished yet!
Our next goal is to provide this family with a completely renewed kitchen by replacing the damaged cabinets and countertops. We are currently raising funds to make that dream a reality. In addition, another local flooring company has generously committed to installing new flooring throughout the affected areas, and a local painting company has volunteered to repaint the home, helping restore not only the structure but also the comfort and beauty that every family deserves.
This is exactly what Fix It Forward was created to do. It's about neighbors helping neighbors. It's about businesses setting competition aside to work together toward something bigger than themselves. Every contractor, volunteer, donor, and supporter has become part of a story that reminds us just how powerful a caring community can be.
We also want to share something that is very important to this family. They have chosen to remain anonymous throughout this process, and we are honored to respect that decision.
If you've been considering nominating someone for a future Fix It Forward project—or even nominating yourself—please know that your privacy will always be respected. We understand that asking for help can feel vulnerable, and not everyone wants their story shared publicly. Whether you prefer to celebrate the journey with us or remain completely anonymous, we will gladly protect your privacy every step of the way.
Our hope is that privacy concerns never prevent someone from receiving the help they deserve.
To every business that has donated materials, labor, and expertise, and to every person who has contributed to this project, thank you. You are proving that when a community comes together with compassion and generosity, lives truly can be changed.
This is what Fix It Forward is all about. One project. One family. One community making a difference together.
