Introducing Fix It Forward: A Helping Hand for Those Who Need It Most
At We Love Construction, we believe construction is about more than building and remodeling homes. It is about strengthening communities, supporting our neighbors, and using our skills to make a difference where it matters most.
That belief is what inspired the launch of Fix It Forward, a new initiative dedicated to providing a helping hand to individuals in our community who need basic home repairs but may not have the time, resources, or ability to complete them on their own.
Our goal is simple: identify deserving individuals through community nominations and donate a day of labor to help tackle repairs that improve safety, functionality, and quality of life.
Meet Our First Fix It Forward Recipient
We are honored to announce that our very first Fix It Forward recipient is Christy Buchanan, the visionary behind The She Garden in Winnsboro, South Carolina.
Christy is a local folk artist, architecture professor, community advocate, and creative force who has spent years cultivating The She Garden into a one-of-a-kind destination that celebrates art, nature, and human connection. Through her work, she has inspired countless people to embrace creativity and community while creating a welcoming space for artists and visitors alike.
When we learned about Christy and everything she does for others, we knew she would be the perfect recipient to launch this program.
A Day of Giving Back
Our team will be donating a full day of labor to help complete several projects around The She Garden, including:
Repairing and restoring the property's fountain
Hanging shutters
Repairing doors
Cleaning and improving the grounds
Completing general maintenance and construction projects
Addressing other small repairs that have accumulated over time
These may seem like simple tasks, but together they help preserve a space that serves as a creative gathering place for the community.
Join Us for Christy Fest
We're also excited to support Christy Fest, taking place on June 13 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at The She Garden in Winnsboro.
The event will feature:
Artists from several states showcasing and selling their work
Live music throughout the day
Delicious food
A unique opportunity to experience one of South Carolina's most creative community spaces
Even better, all proceeds from the event will benefit Because of Roscoe, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping care for stray and abandoned cats.
Christy Fest is a wonderful example of what happens when artists, volunteers, animal advocates, and community members come together for a greater purpose.
Looking Ahead
Fix It Forward is just getting started.
Our vision is to make this an ongoing initiative that allows us to give back to the people who quietly give so much to others. Whether it's a widow needing a hand with repairs, a community volunteer whose home needs attention, or a local nonprofit struggling with maintenance needs, we want to use our skills to help where we can.
We are grateful to Christy Buchanan for allowing us to kick off this program at The She Garden, and we look forward to serving many more deserving recipients in the future.
